Kohl is a Planner with Renaissance. He got into planning in 2016 with the mission to make cities more beautiful, compact, and accessible through form-based coding. Before working at Renaissance, Kohl was an FDOT Transit Fellow (2018-9), aided the Hurricane Michael recovery effort in the Florida panhandle, and served as an appointed neighborhood representative in Martin County (FL). Kohl currently serves as Chair of the American Planning Association’s Student & Emerging Planners Council. Kohl is a proud (null), having received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science & Urban Studies from New College of Florida in 2017, where he wrote his undergraduate thesis on decision making in local government. In 2020, he received his Master of Science in Urban & Regional Planning from Florida State University and was awarded the Edward E. McClure Award for academic achievement.

At Renaissance, Kohl combines advanced mapping, data analysis, and qualitative research to craft actionable plans that, while grounded, solve multiple problems in a novel manner.
